L’Shana Tova – Happy New Year

L’Shana Tova to all of our Jewish brothers and sisters in the ManKind Project – and beyond.

At the head of the year, looking forward to what lies ahead, and looking back at what has transpired, I am grieving, contemplative, and inspired. May the new year bring sweetness.

Over the last weeks, a number of men have shared sad news from natural disasters in our communities here and in other regions, including the death of a Warrior Brother in Mexico, a casualty of the earthquake.

Men have also shared, witnessed and participated in heartful actions of support to each other and their communities at large. Being part of a community of dedicated men has made a difference for many.

I am deeply impacted when I read about the intentions and meaning behind the Jewish high holidays. I recognize how small I am when I look at the world today. I am humbled by the magnitude of the forces at work. And yet I know that my choices have impacts. Acknowledging my humanity, and accountability, and reflecting on my actions in the past year, I feel a renewed commitment and rededication to our shared work.

I am heartened by the messages of support, the actions being taken by men living their missions, the dedication of community members to band together, and the generosity of New Warriors stepping up to serve in myriad ways.

We need New Warriors in the world more than ever. It is not a time to shrink back. We need more men waking up, growing up, and showing up in the way I see you men showing up.

Each man initiated creates a ripple in the world. Each spoken mission statement carries the power of prayer and intention. Each door being opened in the lodge brings hope to another family and community. Each man who recognizes he is not alone offers us all a chance at redemption.

In this time of renewal, I invite you to stretch yourself again beyond what is comfortable and look for ways to bring your authentic leader and servant out into the world.

You are needed. We are needed.
